Colorado Springs – World Golf Center

July 1, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Golf World near Peterson Air Force BaseWorld Golf Center near Peterson Air Force AcademyWorld Golf Center near Peterson Air Force AcademyAre you looking for something to do in the Springs? For maybe an hour, hour and a half? Try World Golf on Galley Road (just north of the Peterson Air Force Base Entrance). It’s a Golf Course, a driving range and also features – as our main topic – a Miniature Golf Course.

It’s a course that’s been around for a while, which means it actually offers shade trees to stay out of the heat that we’ve been experiencing lately. It also has benches along the course, to relax, to chat and to wait for your turn.

The theme is “The West”. From Farming to Cowboys and the “original citizens of the area” – represented by a tepee. It’s a rustic course, no computer technology and no plastic, and therein lies it’s charm. It’s a course simply for the fun of it, with plenty of tricky “runs” – from the Mountain to the Outhouse, all with water (the river) meandering in between. A Gazebo “sits” in the middle, seemingly waiting for a wedding, that’ll never happen. (Unless getting married on a miniature golf course, in a gazebo, surrounded by water, is your thing?!)

It’s an ideal activity for the family, couples, and friends or just by yourself. It’s easy to get find, and amazingly cheap. For Adults, the price is only $3.50 per round of “mini-golf”, for kids under 12 it’s $2.50. So come on by, pick a ball, grab a club and have some fun!

Meet Colorado Springs – The Pixel Place

April 3, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Colorado Springs Real EstateDo you own a digital Camera? Do you ever use it? If you do – you know how quickly you can shoot 20, 30, or more pictures. After all – it’s just on the card. But then what? Are you going to save it on your computer forever? Or are you actually going to print some of those pictures?  If that’s your plan – forget printing them at home – there’s a place for you to go, have some fun and save on that ink and paper while you’re at it.  It’s called “Pixel Place” and it’s located on North Academy – 6406 N. Academy to be exact.

You can print pictures from your digital media – any way you’d like them. From Wallet Size to Wall paper size, color, black and white, sepia, cards and invitations etc. You can even have them (the pictures) look like paintings or something by Andy Warhol. Your imagination sets the limits. And best of all – no more buying expensive photo paper and using up all your ink, no more standing in line, with someone “peeking” over your shoulder while you’re trying to crop your pictures just right. This place has a coffee bar, (You have got to try the “Turtle Coffee” – ask Jerry – he’s the owner  - for it, he’ll know what you’re looking for.) tables to lounge and chat, several touch screens to design your pictures, even a photo studio to take pictures right there (with Green Screen Technology!).

And once you’re done, it won’t break your bank! And if you’re really looking to impress, give a gift or just have a nice display piece  – you can have your pictures framed right there.  Jerry will help you find the perfect frame.  Give it a try and let me know what you think!

Meet Colorado Springs – Mission Bell Inn

March 31, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Manitou Springs Real EstateOk, so the Mission Bell Inn is technically not quite Colorado Springs. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t stop in and check it out.  It’s located in Manitou Springs, on Crystal Park Road. It’s tucked away in one of the winding side streets, backing up against a hill, offering an outside patio, as well as a cozy interior for dining.

This restaurant has been in the same family since 1962 and is offering Mexican food, prepared fresh. If you have any special wishes or dietary needs – just let them know, and you’ll be taken care of.  Whether it’s your first time at the Mission Bell Inn or if you’ve been returning for years – you’ll be certain to make new memories amid great food and friendly service, in a local Non-chain Restaurant, where even getting there is part of the charm.

Meet Colorado Springs – Serrano’s

March 27, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Colorado Springs, local Business, RelocationAre you as much of a “Coffee Addict” as I am? (And is there really a 12 step program for that?) Anyway – if you are, you might have already been to Serrano’s – on North Academy. In the semi-new shopping “strip” on the east side of Academy, just past Woodmen Road.

But just in case you haven’t been….it has a great variety of coffees. If you want it, they’ll make it, any size or flavor.  For a quick afternoon treat, try the “Milky Way” – Dessert in a Cup! Heaven!

Plus Serrano’s has nice displays, stuff to buy (LOVE the variety of cups), comfy seats…AND…it Colorado Springs, local business, relocationhas really friendly people!  And that is a real bonus in my opinion.  It’s a pleasure to just “sit around” and do much of nothing….except enjoy the coffee and if applicable – the company.

If North Academy isn’t your “thing” – there is another Serrano’s up in Monument. It’s a locally owned coffee store – so give it a try.

We had a meeting there a little while ago – and it was great. Outlets to plug in the laptop, plenty of space and delicious coffee! Can’t beat it! (The Coffee Addict shows, doesn’t it….?) Thought I’d share… (With all the chain stores, restaurant and chain service businesses we have in the area, I like to support the “Locals” – because those are the businesses that make Colorado Springs unique.)

Meet Colorado Springs – Kings Chef

March 22, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Colorado Springs DowntownHow long have you lived in – or how often have you visited – Colorado Springs? How often have you driven by a small, purple castle, called “King’s Chef” in downtown Colorado Springs? Have you ever stopped in? If you haven’t – you’re missing out on some of the best breakfast and lunch offerings around.

King’s Chef started out as a Valentine’s Diner in 1956, then went through 3 Owners and one move (from the corner of Tejon Street and Costilla Avenue to the current location), before the current Owner, Gary Geiser took it over in 1997. copy-of-p1010001.JPG

If you haven’t seen King’s Chef, or if it’s been a while, it’s located on 110 E Costilla, and it’s open Monday through Friday, from about 7:00 am to 2:00 pm, Saturday and Sunday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.  Be prepared to get close – King’s Chef can seat 13 people at a time on the inside, another “bunch” on the outside patio, if weather permits. Just make sure to come hungry – the portions are huge and the green chili is fantastic. And should you manage to finish your plate, you can proudly call yourself a member of the “Clean Plate Club”. (Only then will you be allowed to pick a candy from the candy box!)

So the next time you’re downtown and hungry – stop in at the King’s Chef! You won’t regret it. It’s a true local “Institution” with several awards to its name.
